Overview

International Olympiad of Science also known as IOS is a competition for students from class 1 to class 12 to test their knowledge abilities in Science subject. IOS promotes Science talent from school to National and International level by recognizing their merits. The olympiad tests the proficiency and competence of students in Science and the syllabus is as prescribed by State Boards/CBSE/ ICSE.

International Olympiad of Science (IOS) Conducting Body:

The SilverZone Foundation conducts the International Olympiad of Science (IOS) to test and promote the knowledge of Science subject. The IOS is one of the many olympiads conducted by SilverZone Foundation such as the International Olympiad of Mathematics, Computer Science, Social Studies, English Language, French language and Reasoning & Aptitude Olympiad.

International Olympiad of Science (IOS) Selection Procedure: The Olympiad is conducted in three levels:-

  • Level 1

  • Level 2

  • Level 3

International Olympiad of Science (IOS)  Exam Pattern:

The examination is conducted in Offline mode. The total time duration is 01 hour (60 minutes) for the exam. The exam is conducted in English language. The questions are objective type and consist of three sections namely Science, Reasoning & Aptitude and Scholar's zone. The examination is suitable for students studying through State BoardCBSE/ ICSE/ ISC. The detailed exam pattern is as follows:-

LEVEL 1:- All the students from classes 1st to 12th desirous to appear are eligible to take part in Level 1. The test for level 1 is conducted at schools only.

LEVEL 2:- 

  • Students ranking among the top 1000 from each class in the first level compete in this level for the top position and the required marks to appear in this level is minimum 50% marks.

  • Students scoring 1st rank in their class having marks more than 75% in level 1 are also eligible for Level 2. This rule applies to the school from where more than 100 students participate for the test.

  • Level 2 is conducted at the national level but the examination is held at the candidate's city/state.

LEVEL 3:-

  • Students studying from 6th to 12th class scoring 1st rank in level 2 are eligible for 3rd level

  • Level 3 is conducted in New Delhi, India.

  • Students qualifying level 3 having 1st and 2nd rank are sent to NASA for an educational trip.

International Olympiad of Science (IOS) FAQs:

Ques 1. How can a candidate apply for the IOS?

Ans. Candidates can apply offline only for the exam through their school provided their schools are registered with Silverzone Foundation. Individual participation of any student is not allowed for the exam.

Ques 2. I made a mistake while filling up the application form. Can I fill it again?

Ans. Once the application submission process is done and the fee is paid no changes could be made so candidates are advised to fill the form wisely,

Ques 3. Is registration mandatory to apply for the exam?

Ans. The school, whose students are desirous to appear for the test, must be registered with Silverzone Foundation. No individual registration is required.

Ques 4. Can a candidate edit the application form after submission?

Ans. No, it can't be done once the form is submitted and the application fee is paid.

Ques 5. Does IOS send the admit card to the communication address which is mentioned on the application form?

Ans. The admit cards can be downloaded from the official website of the SilverZone.. 

Ques 6. Is there any percentage requirement to apply for the test?

Ans. No, there is no such requirement.

Ques 7. Is there negative marking in the exam?

Ans. Candidates are advised to visit the website regarding the same.

Ques 8. Is the IOS exam conducted online or offline?

Ans. The exam is conducted in Offline mode.

Ques 9. Which category is exempted from payment of examination fee?

Ans. There is no provision of fee exemption for any category

Ques 10. In what mode the application fee can be paid?
