Overview

The Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education & Research (JIPMER) is a medical institute in India of national. JIPMER MBBS is one of the top three exams apart from AIMS MBBS & NEET, held for MBBS admission in the country. JIPMER has also been conferred the title of an 'Institute of National Importance' by an act of Parliament. The Institute has two campuses namely JIPMER Puducherry and JIPMER Karaikal.

Conducting Body: Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research held a separate entrance test for admission to the MBBS course manage by it. It is one of the important medical entrances in India.

Selection Procedure: The selection procedure is given in the following stage:

• Written Test

Exam Pattern:- The examination is an Online Computer Based Test (CBT). There are 5 sections in the test - Chemistry, Physics, Biology, English language & Comprehension and Logical & Quantitative Reasoning. The total duration is 2 and a half hours. The medium of the examination is English only. The table explains the entire exam pattern.

Note:- 4 marks shall be awarded for each correct answer and 1 mark gets deducted.

Eligibility: 

• Age Limit:- The age of the applicants shall not be less than 17 years.

• Educational Qualifications:- 10+2 or equivalent with Physics, Chemistry and Biology/Biotechnology and English as main subjects with at least 50% for General, 40% for OBC/SC/ST/PwD and 45% for General-Orthopedic Physically Handicapped (OPH) category. (minimum aggregate marks for Physics, Chemistry and Biology/Biotechnology subjects only).
