National Standard Examination in Biology or NSEB is a national level Biology Olympiad program organized by the Indian Association of Physics Teachers for the candidates who are desirous to pursue their education in Biology. IAPT or Indian Association of Physics Teachers in collaboration with the ATBS (Association of Teachers in Biological Sciences) conducts the National Standard Examination in Biology among other NSE exams. IAPT is an association of Physics Teachers which is spread throughout the country and helps in conducting other National Standard Examinations as well such as NSEA in Astronomy, NSEB in Physics, NSEC in Chemistry and NSEJS in Junior Science.

National Standard Examination in Biology (NSEB) Exam Pattern: 

The examination is conducted in Offline (pen paper based) mode. The time duration is 120 minutes. The questions are Objective type and the exam is conducted in English, Hindi and a few other regional languages. The examination is based on the syllabus of CBSE 11th & 12th class. The detailed exam pattern is as follows:-

Note: Plus 03 marks are awarded for each correct answer and 01 mark gets deducted for each wrong answer.

- Age Criteria:

• The age of the candidates must be between 15 years to 20 years.

- Educational Criteria:

• Candidates appearing for the test must not have passed/qualified the class 12th Board exam. Candidates who have qualified the 12th class are not eligible for the test.

• Candidates studying in the 11th class are also eligible to apply for the test.

• Candidates must not be appearing for NSEJS of the same year.
