Overview
The SAT also known as Scholastic Assessment Test is a standardized test widely used for college admissions in the United States. Established in 1926, the SAT is owned, published and developed by the College Board a private, non-profit organization in the United States and is administered by the Educational Testing Service on behalf of the College Board. The SAT is intended to measure numeracy, literacy and writing skills that are needed for academic success in college.
Conducting Body: The Scholastic Assessment Test is a standardized test conducted by the College Board for the students who are seeking admission to undergraduate courses in many countries across the globe, particularly in the colleges of the United States and Canada.

Selection Procedure: There are two types of SAT examinations:

SAT Reasoning Test
-
SAT Subject Test
- SAT Reasoning Test: This test is for students who are desirous to pursue higher education in countries abroad. It is also considered one of the most sought after competitive exams and the scores are vastly recognized in the colleges/universities abroad.
- SAT Subject Test: This test is opted by students who are looking to study a particular subject in great detail.
SAT Reasoning Test Exam Pattern:
The total time duration of the examination is 3 hours excluding the essay section which is for a duration of 50 minutes. There are 155 questions including the essay question. The other sections of the examinations are Reading, Writing & Language and Mathematics. The detailed examination pattern is as follows:-

SAT Subject Test Exam Pattern:
The Sat Subject Test is conducted for assessing the applicant's knowledge of specific subjects. The total time duration of the test is one hour. There are as many as 20 subjects available for the candidates to choose from, however not all college/universities require a SAT score for admission. Candidates are advised to read the eligibility criteria thoroughly of the targeted college/university in which they are seeking admission.

Ans. There is no negative marking in this test.
Ques 6. Is Calculator allowed?
Ans. Yes, calculators are permitted in the Maths section only. There are two sections in Maths:

Ques 7. What is the scoring method for the Writing section?
Ans. Essays are optional and do not get scored in this test
Ques 8. Does Writing score matter for grand total?
Ans. Yes, Writing scores are considered while preparing composite scores but the scoring is combined with the Reading section.
Ques 9. What is the exam schedule?
Ans. The SAT test is scheduled seven times a year: in August, October, November, December, March, May, and June. It also depends on the program/college you are applying to.
