West Bengal Civil Services (WBCS) exam is organized by the Public Service Commission, West Bengal (PSCWB). The exam is conducted for the recruitment of eligible applicants for numerous posts in the Ministries and departments in the Government of West Bengal. The exam is held yearly. West Bengal Civil Services (WBCS)  Selection ProcedureThe selection procedure for the West Bengal Civil Services exam is as follows:-

The exam is held in three phases-

  • Preliminary Exam

  • Mains Exam

  • Interview

West Bengal Civil Services (WBCS)  Exam Pattern:

Preliminary Exam:- The preliminary examination is of qualifying nature and is conducted offline. There is only One Paper in the prelims examination which consists of 8 sections of Objective type questions, having 25 questions of 1 mark each. The total time duration of the examination is two hours. The examination pattern of the preliminary examination is as follows:-

Mains Exam:- The candidates who are shortlisted from the preliminary examination are allowed to sit for the mains examination.  Mains examination has papers of Objective as well as of Descriptive nature. There are  7 papers in the Mains Examination. The first two papers are on Languages. The next two papers on which candidates have to write an essay. The last three papers related to General Studies. The exam pattern is as follows:

Interview:- The candidates who are shortlisted from the mains examinations are called for the interviews to judge their mental ability, decision making, and their suitability for the service.

  • The interview is held for 200 marks.

WBCS Educational Qualification: A candidate should possess a graduation degree in any discipline with a second division in marks.

Ans. There is a total of six papers out of which 2 are General Study, 1 Paper is of Optional language, 1 paper is of General English, 1 paper is of Polity & Indian Economy and 1 paper is of Arithmetic and Reasoning. There are Optional subjects as well and 2 papers are conducted for optional subjects.
