Ques 3. How many times a candidate can give WBCS?
Ans. There is no limit as such but the age criteria must be followed.
Ques 4. Is Bengali compulsory to appear in WBCS?
Ans. No, the Bengali language is not compulsory since there are other options for the Language paper but the knowledge of the language is surely be considered while preparing the merit list.
Ques 5. What is the highest post of WBCS?
Ans. The highest post of the exam officer is Secretary under the Government of West Bengal.
Ques 6. Is there negative marking in the exam?
Ans. Yes, there is a negative marking in the exam.
Ques 7. Can an applicant studying in the final year of graduation apply for WBCS?
Ans. No. The minimum requirement is the candidate must have completed the Graduation.
Ques 8. Does marks in Graduation matter for WBCS?
Ans. The minimum criteria is Graduation completed so the marks do not matter.
Ques 9. What is the age limit to appear in WBCS?
Ans. For Group A, B & C the upper age limit is 36 years and for Group D the limit is 38 years.
Ques 10. What should be the size of the signature and the photo?
Ans. The size of the photograph and size should be between 10-20 kb.
Ques 11. How can candidates pay the application fee?
Ans. By online as well as offline.
Ques 12. Which category is exempted from fee submission?
Ans. SC/ST applicants are exempted.

Ques 14. How many papers are there in WBCS Mains?
Ans. There is a total of six papers out of which 2 are General Study, 1 Paper is of Optional language, 1 paper is of General English, 1 paper is of Polity & Indian Economy and 1 paper is of Arithmetic and Reasoning. There are Optional subjects as well and 2 papers are conducted for optional subjects.
