Assam Teacher Eligibility Test is organized by the Department of School Education. Assam TET is held with an aim for the employment of eligible and desiring applicants for the posts of teachers in the state as well as in private schools of Assam. The Elementary Education Department in Assam has been functioning since July 1977 for the advancement of education in the State. Article 21 A, as included by the Constitution (eighty Sixth) amendment Act, 2002, provisions for free and mandatory education of all children in the age group of six to fourteen years as a fundamental right in such a manner as the State may, by law define.

The candidates should pass the upper Secondary examination with at least 50 marks.

It is a relaxation of 45 marks if the applicants belong to a reserved class.

Ans. No, besides graduation, the applicants must also have done B.Ed/B.El.Ed from a recognized university.

Ans: Age limit to apply for AssamTET:

• General male and female- 35 years.

• OBC male and female-38 years.

• SC / ST male and female-42 years

However, relaxation of 3 years is given to OBC applicants and 5 years to SC/ ST applicants.

Ques 9. If I clear AssamTET and still in my final year of Bachelor's Degree, am I eligible to apply? 

Ans: Candidates who are appearing in the final year of Bachelor Degree in Education or Diploma in Elementary Education etc. are temporarily admitted and their AssamTET Certificate shall be confirmed only on passing the aforesaid Examinations.
