Short Service Commission (NCC) FAQs:
Ques 1. I have NCC C certificate with C grade, am I eligible for army NCC special entry scheme SSC or not?
Ans: No, to apply NCC Entry SSB, you need to have a minimum grade of A or B. You are at grade C which doesn't qualify you to apply for NCC special entry scheme.
Ques 2. Is the Army NCC C certificate applicable for naval entry?
Ans: No. Any NCC cadet with a C certificate from Army/Navy/Air force can only apply for NCC special entry in Army. For Navy, the cadet should be a Naval wing NCC cadet also must have a B.Tech degree. No 3-year degrees like B.Sc, BA are allowed. No cadet with Army/Airforce certificate can join Navy through NCC special entry. For IAF, one should have an Airwing C cert, and any degree is applicable. No Army/ Navy certificate holders can apply.
Ques 3. Will NCC help in a short services commission in the Indian Army?
Ans: With NCC C cert ( with minimum B grade ) you are excused from written exams i.e CDSE and directly qualified for SSB for SSC ( Short Service Commission ) 10+4 years with the further possibility for opting PC ( Permanent Commission depending on one's merit ).
You will get the training for SSC ( Army ) at OTA Chennai ( Officers Training Academy ).
Ques 4. What is the percentage of Short Service Commission (SSC) Officers get Permanent Commission (PC) in Army Navy and Air Force?
Ans: There is no fixed percentage of SSC Officers who get PC. It depends mostly on the number of vacancies.
Ques 5. What do short service commission officers do after they get out of the army?
Ans: In Short Service Commission you have the option to join the Army and serve as a Commissioned Officer for 10/14 years. At the end of 10 yrs, you have 2 options. Either select for a Permanent Commission or opt-out or have the alternative of 4 years extension. They can quit at any time during this period of 4 yrs extension.
Ques 6. What is the required percentage in graduation to get a call letter for NCC special entry scheme?
Ans: NCC allows special entry to the C Certificate holding cadets who hold the grading of Aye or Bee in NCC C certificate and hold a Graduate degree with above 50% marks. Air force special entry- The percentage expected in graduation is 60%
Ques 7. How many applicants can apply for NCC special entry scheme?
Ans: Ans: NCC MEN. 50 (45 for General Category and 05 for Wards of Battle Casualties of Army personnel only). NCC Women. 05 (04 for General Category and 01 for Wards of Battle Casualties of Army personnel only)
Ques 8. What are the terms and conditions of the service?
Ans: Officers (Male & Female) ARE responsible to work for ten years. The said tenure, however, may be extendable by an additional period of four years subject to their opting for the same and found qualified and fitting for extension of service as per terms of commitment issued from time to time. Officers who are anxious to apply for Permanent Commission may be acknowledged for the same in the 10th year of service following the eligibility and suitability as per the terms of commitment issued from time to time.
