Overview

The Gujarat Teacher Eligibility Test is organized by the Board of Secondary Education Gujarat (BSEG). The aim of this exam is to hire eligible applicants for the posts of teachers in State Government Schools. This exam presents a good opportunity for all the applicants with B.Ed. looking for teacher's jobs in the Government school and private schools. The Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board or GSEB is a government of Gujarat body accountable for preparingthe policy related, the regulatory, the cognitive, and the rational direction the state's secondary and higher secondary educational system exercises.The main obligations of the Board include academics, carrying out examinations and research and development.

Gujarat Teacher Eligibility Test Selection Procedure:

Candidates will be shortlisted from the score secured in the Gujarat TET 2019. The final list is prepared based on the category wise cut off marks.Multiple choice type questions are asked in the exam. Each question is for one mark and there is no negative marking. There aretwo papers in the exam i.e. Paper I and Paper II in which 150 questions are asked. Candidates have to complete the exam in 1 and a half hours.

Gujarat Teacher Eligibility Test Eligibility Criteria:

Educational Qualification:

The candidates should pass the upper Secondary examination with at least 50 marks.

 A relaxation of 45 marks if the candidates belong to a reserved class.

1.Senior Secondary / Higher  Secondary (or it's equivalent 10+2) with a minimum 50% score and 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.EI.ED)

OR

2.Senior Secondary/Higher Secondary (or it's equivalent 10+2) with a minimum 50% result and 4 years Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.EI.ED).

OR

3. Higher Secondary / Senior Secondary (or it's equivalent 10+2) with a minimum 50% score and having a Diploma in Education (Special Education), approved by the Rehabilitation Council of India(RCI).

OR

4. 2 year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.EI.ED) or Graduation. 

Age Criteria: Applicants should be between 21 to 30 years.

Gujarat Teacher Eligibility Test Syllabus:

Child Development Pedagogy: Child Development (Primary School Children): Understanding Children with the special needs, Concept of Inclusive Education and Learning Pedagogy

Mathematics: Numbers, Algebra, Mensuration, Geometry, Arithmetic, Shapes and Spatial Understanding

Language I: Perception-based questions for language development

Language II (English): Understanding based question in English and advancement of language

Social Sciences/Social Studies:  Social and Political Life Geography,History etc

Environmental Studies:  Natural Resources,Water,Habitats, Solar System, Air, Parts of Body, Food Resource and Care, Our Surroundings.

Ques 1. Is there any relaxation in the qualifying marks for SC/ST?

Ans: Sc/ST/OBC/Differently Abled Category applicants have the advantage of 5% relaxation in marks.

Ques 2. I have completed B. Sc Microbiology, am I eligible?

Ans. To be eligible for the course, it is expected that along with the graduation, the candidate must have done a teaching course. Thus, you are not eligible. 

Ques 3. What are the minimum marks to qualify?

Ans: Gujarat TET Qualifying Marks

  1. For category except SC/ST/Differently abled/ PH - 60% (90/150)

  2. For SC/ST/Differently abled/ PH - 55% (83/150)

Ques 4. I have done a diploma in elementary education may I eligible for secondary teacher exam?

Ans: Yes you are eligible. The applicants who has Senior Secondary / Higher Secondary (or it's equivalent 10+2) with a minimum of 50% marks and has finished a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.EI.ED) can apply.

Ques 5. Does a BCA student apply for Gujarat TET?

Ans. No, besides graduation, the candidates must also have done B.Ed/B.El.Ed from a recognized university.

Ques 6. I want to apply for Gujarat TET. So, I need to know about the age limit?

Ans: Age limit to apply for Gujarat TET:

  • General male and female- 35 years.

  • OBC male and female-38 years.

  • SC / ST male and female-42 years.

However, relaxation of 3 years is given to OBC applicants and 5 years to SC/ ST applicants.

Ques 7. If I clear Gujarat TET and still in my final year of Bachelor's Degree, am I eligible to apply? 

Ans: Candidates who are appearing in the final year of Bachelor Degree in Education or Diploma in Elementary Education etc. are temporarily admitted and their Gujarat TET Certificate shall be confirmed only on passing the aforesaid Examinations.

Ques 8. What are the minimum marks to qualify?

Ans. The criteria for considering pass in Gujarat TET is as follows:

a) OC 60% Marks and above

b) BC 50% Marks and above

c) SC 40% Marks and above

d) ST 40% Marks and above

e) Differently-abled (PH) 40% Marks and above

Ques 9. Is a B.Com B.Ed student eligible for the Gujarat TET?

Ans: If you have 4 years of Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.EI.ED) degree than you are eligible for Gujarat TET.

Ques 10. Which type of question can I expect in the Paper-II of the Gujarat TET exam? 

Ans: The questions in the tests for Paper II will be based on the subjects of the prescribed syllabus of the Gujarat State for classes VI to VIII but the difficulty standard could be up  to  the senior secondary stage.
