Overview
National Hospitality Teachers Eligibility Test is organized by the NCHMCT. The purpose of this exam is to hire eligible applicants for the posts of teachers in hospitality academics. National Hospitality Teachers Eligibility Test Conducting Body:
NCHMCT is an abbreviation of National Council for Hotel Management and Catering Technology (Society) was founded in the year 1982 by Govt. of India as a self governing/ autonomous body for coordinated growth and advancement of hospitality management training in the country. It held NH TET.

National Hospitality Teachers Eligibility Test Selection Procedure:

NH TET will comprise of following steps:
-
Step I: Minimum marks to be obtained in NHTET for considering candidate eligibility for Assistant Lecturer and Teaching Associates in NCHM and its any affiliated IHM.

The candidates are required to obtain the following minimum marks separately in Paper I, Paper II, Paper III and Aggregate of three Papers, to become eligible for both i.e. Teaching Associates and Assistant Lecturer, are as given below

The applicants are required to achieve the following minimum marks individually in Paper I, Paper II, Paper III and total of three Papers, to become qualified only for Teaching Associate, are as given below

Step II: Amongst those applicants who have passed step I, a detailed mark sheet cum certificate is made and send to such applicants. The said certificate remains valid for the period specified on it, to apply for a post of Assistant Lecturer in NCHM or any of its associated IHMs.

Step III: Those applicants who have not passed step I, a detailed mark sheet will be made with a remark ‘not cleared’ and is displayed in the web portal www.thims.gov.in.

Qualifying criteria are decided by NCHMCT and are final and binding. However, the NCHMCT has the power to modify the qualifying criteria if felt necessary and stated along with the reason for change before announcing the result.

National Hospitality Teachers Eligibility Test Eligibility Criteria:
Educational Qualification:
The applicants should pass the upper Secondary examination with a minimum of 50 marks.
There is a relaxation of 45 marks if the applicants belong to a reserved class.
1.Senior Secondary / Higher Secondary (or it's equivalent 10+2) with a minimum of 50% marks and 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.EI.ED)
OR
2.Higher Secondary / Senior Secondary (or it's equivalent 10+2) with a minimum of 60% marks and 4 years Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.EI.ED).
OR
3. Higher Secondary / Senior Secondary (or it's equivalent 10+2) with a minimum of 50% marks and holding Diploma in Education (Special Education), recognized by the Rehabilitation Council of India(RCI).
OR
4. 2year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.EI.ED) and Graduation.
Age Limit:
Candidates, age must be between 18 yrs to 30 yrs as of 01 April 2019.
National Hospitality Teachers Eligibility Test Syllabus:
Paper- I Syllabus: Paper I will be general, aimed to evaluate the teaching/research ability of the applicant. It will essentially be devised to testability towards teaching, rationalizing ability, comprehension, divergent ideation and general awareness/ understanding of the applicant.
Paper- II Syllabus: Questions are from Food Science, Nutrition, hotel accounts ( for hospitality related teaching posts ) General Management, topics.
Paper- III Syllabus: From F & B Service and Management, Food Production, House Keeping Management, Accommodation Operation Management topic questions are asked.
National Hospitality Teachers Eligibility Test FAQs:
Ques 1. Is it necessary to have a Master's degree to apply for NHTET?
Ans. Applicants having a Bachelor’s as well as a Master’s degree in Hotel Management/Hospitality Administration with a minimum of 60% mark either in Bachelor’s or Master’s degree are eligible to apply for this exam.
Ques 2. What is the validity period of the NHTET passing certificate?
AnsThis certification remains valid unless the applicant approaches the maximum age of qualification for Assistant Lecturer and Teaching Associate vacancies.

The qualification criteria or validity of this certificate can be changed later. However, the interest of qualified applicants will be taken into consideration.

Even after the issuance of this certificate, if any applicant found to have forged documents his/her NHTET certificate will be recalled to the immediate effect.

Ques 4. What are the minimum marks do I need to score to qualify?
Ans: Applicants are expected to obtain following minimum marks individually in Paper-I, Paper-II, Paper-III and Aggregate of three Papers, to become suitable for both - Assistant Lecturer and Teaching Associates. General/OBC category candidates need 45 marks (45), 45 marks (45%) and 100 marks (50 %) individually for Paper I, II and II and 200 marks (50 %) in aggregate. For PWD/ SC/ ST, it would be 40 (40%), 40 (40%), 90 (45 %) and 180 (45 %) respectively.
To be suitable only for Teaching Associate, the mark necessary is 40 (40%), 40 (40%), 90 (45 %) and 180 (45 %) individually for General/OBC and 35 (35%) 35 (35%) 80 (40 %) 160 (40 %) individually for PWD/ SC/ ST. Those declared eligible only for Teaching Associateship, will not be qualified to apply against any vacancy of Assistant Lecturer. Such an applicant has to take a further chance in subsequent NHTET to pass with the necessary percentage prescribed for becoming acceptable to the post of Assistant Lecturer.
Ques 5. What is the number of attempts I can appear for the NHTET exam?
Ans: One can give the exam multiple times until he/she is in the permissible period up to 30 years of age. However, an OBC (non creamy layer) may appear for the exam up to 33 years of age and SC/ST/PD may apply up to 35 years of age.
Ques 6. How many times does the authority announce the test?
Ans: The Test is usually held once in a calendar year. However, in case an insufficient number of applicants are qualified, the NCHMCT may hold the exam twice in a calendar year.
Ques 7. Is it possible to apply for NCHMCT affiliated IHMs?
Ans: Yes you can apply for the NCHMCT affiliated IHMs only if you have a valid NHTET pass certificate. You can apply for a Teaching Associate or Assistant Lecturer under direct recruitment against any regular vacancy.
Ques 8. Is there any age relaxation for SC/ST candidates?
Ans: Yes there is a relaxation of up to three years for the candidates belonging to the OBC category and up to five years relaxation for SC/ ST/ PD categories.
Ques 9. I am in my final year. Am I eligible to apply for NHTET?
Ans: The candidates who are currently in the final year can apply. These students must make certain that they should score 60% of marks in the qualifying examinations.
Ques 10. Can I edit my application form after the submission?
Ans. Yes, there is a provision of application correction which is notified through a circular. The time and date completely depend on the official authority who conducts the exam.
