Overview

STEP, also known as Systematic Training and Education Programme, is an exam hosted by The Oberoi Group of Hotels for students who are desirous to continue their career in Hotel Management programme. The entrance is conducted for admissions into various hotels of Oberoi group across the nation. At the completion of the program, BTS (Bachelor of Tourism Studies) degree from IGNOU (Indira Gandhi National Open University) and a Certificate of Proficiency from The Oberoi Group is awarded to each student. The entrance is conducted every year.

Conducting Body: The Oberoi Centre of Learning and Development (OCLD) of The Oberoi Group of Hotel conducts interviews to select candidates for admissions into its Systematic Training and Education Programme (STEP) programme.

Detail: 

Programme:- STEP is a three-year practical training program in the four core operational departments of the Hotel: Front Office, Housekeeping, Food, and Beverage Service, and Kitchen. The two programmes which are offered are:

• Kitchen Operations Programme

• Hotel Operations Programme

The programme commences every year in the month of August.

Interview:- The admissions are done through Interview only and there is no written exam. The interview process includes 03 rounds:

1. Round 1 - In this round students are divided into groups, having 15 - 20 students in each group and are asked to attempt different questionnaires. Students are also asked to perform many activities. Candidates are evaluated on Grooming, Poise and Spoken English criteria.

2. Round 2 - After qualifying the Round 1 candidates are invited for 2nd Round where they are interviewed by a panel of faculty members for one on one meeting. Candidates are evaluated on Personality & Behavior and Aptitude for Hospitality is also checked.

3. Round 3 - After qualifying both rounds, Candidates are selected for the final round i.e. Round 3 where they are again asked to attempt some questionnaires and perform activities. Interview in front of a panel is again conducted in this round. 3rd Round is conducted on different day and city as Round 1 and Round 2. Candidates are evaluated on Personality, Behaviour, Knowledge and Skills.

Ques 1. From where can a candidate get the information regarding STEP?

Ans. Candidates can get the information from the official website of the Oberoi Centre of Learning and Development (OCLD).

 Ques 2. How can a candidate apply for the STEP?

Ans. Candidates can apply in online mode from the official website of the OCLD. There is no provision to fill the application form in offline mode. OCLD releases the application form each year in the month of February/October for all the programmes. The test centre must be selected at the time of applying.
