Odisha Secondary School Teacher Eligibility Test Selection Procedure:

The applicant selection process will be done based on the performance of the OSSTET Entrance Exam conducted by the Odisha State Government.

Applicants will be shortlisted by marks scored in the Entrance Exam.

Applicants also have to go for the Final Round Personal Interview.

Educational Qualification:
Trained Graduate Arts:
1. Bachelor Degree in Arts/ Commerce or Shastri(Sanskrit) Degree with two school subjects as Honours/ Elective / Pass/ Optional (list of school subjects at (annexure I) from an acknowledged university scoring 50% marks in aggregate (45% for SC/ PH/ ST/BC applicants).
AND
Bachelor in Education (B.Ed) from an NCTE Recognised Institution.
OR
2. Four years integrated B.A.B.Ed from NCTE recognised An institution with two school subjects as Honours/ Elective / Pass/ Optional (list of school subjects at annexure-I) having 50% marks in aggregate (45% for SEBC /SC/ ST /PH/candidates).
Trained Graduate Science (PCM/CBZ):
1. Bachelor Degree in Science / B.Tech/ B.E. Degree with two schools subject as Honours/ Elective / Pass/ Optional (list of school subjects at annexure-I) from a recognised university having 50% marks in aggregate (45% for PH/SC/ST/SEBC candidates).
AND
Bachelor in Education (B.Ed) from an Institution Recognised by NCTE
OR
2. Four years integrated B.Sc.B.Ed from an Institution Recognised by NCTE with two school subjects as Honours/ Elective / Pass/ Optional (list of school subjects at annexure-I) having 50% marks in aggregate (45% for PH/ SEBC/SC/ ST/ candidates).
Hindi Teacher:
1. Bachelor degree from a recognised University with Hindi as one of the Honours/ Elective/ Optional/ Pass subject with minimum 50% marks in aggregate (45% for SC/ PH/ SEBC /ST/ candidates.)
Any one of the following training qualifications.
a) Hindi Sikshyan Parangat from Kendriya Hindi Sansthan, Agra.
b) B.H.Ed. a course designated University/ Institution recognized by NCTE.
c) B.Ed in Hindi, a course directed by NCTE, from Dakhin Bharat
Hindi Prachar Sabha, Madras.
OR
2. Bachelor Degree from a recognised University with minimum 50% marks in aggregate (45% for ST/ PH/ SEBC/ SC/ candidates)
WITH
One of the following qualifications :
a) Rastrabhasa Ratna from Rastrabhasa Prachar Samiti, Wardha,

1. Bachelor Degree in Arts having Telgu as a subject with minimum 50% marks in aggregate (45% for SC/ ST/ PH/ SEBC) candidates)
AND
Telugu B. Ed. from a University / Institution recognized by NCTE.
Physical Education Teacher:
1. +2 or its equivalent examination from a recognized an institution with minimum 50% marks in aggregate (45% for SC/ ST/ PH/ SEBC) candidates).
AND
2. C.P.Ed./ B.P.Ed./ M.P.Ed. From a recognized Board/ University.

Odisha Secondary School Teacher Eligibility Test FAQs:
Ques 1. Do I need to be fluent in Odia language to apply for OSSTET?
Ans: Candidates must be capable to read & write in Odia. Candidates must have qualified HSC Exam by the state board or its equivalent exam with Odia as a language, i.e., First/Second/Third Language.
Ques 2. What are the minimum qualifying marks required for OSSTET?
Ans: The minimum passing mark in each paper is 60%. A candidate obtaining 60% or more in each paper will be considered to have qualified OSSTET. In the case of SC/ ST/ PH/ SEBC applicants, the minimum pass mark is 50%.
Ques 3. What are the facilities for physically challenged (PH) candidates?
Ans: The applicant having a PH certificate with a 40% disability or more shall be treated as a PH applicant and can avail the expected amenities meant for PH applicant in respect of OSSTET.
Ques 4. Is there any negative marking in the OSSTET exam?
Ans: Each question carries 2 marks. For every correct answer, you can score 2 marks and there is no negative marking.
Ques 5. How much time does it take to get the examination result?
Ans. OS SET Result is usually expected to release in the month of December [tentatively]. The result usually takes 3 to 4 weeks after the examination is completed.
Ques 6. I have 146 marks in commerce and I am from the SEBC category. Is there any chance to apply for OSSTET exam?
Ans. No, OBC/ DT(VJ)/NT/SEBC/SBC/ [relating to non-creamy layer] and PH/VH/SC/ST/VH-Visually Handicapped i.e. Blind/Trans-genders(PH-Physically Handicapped), Orphan category applicants who have obtained at least 50% marks (without gracing or rounding off) in Master or equivalent examination are suitable for this test.
Ques 7. What is the minimum percentage criteria for ST/SC candidate?
Ans: The minimum criterion of percentage for the reserved category such as SC/ST is 50%.
Ques 8. What are the eligibility criteria for the third gender candidate?
Ans: Applicant applying from the third gender in other words transgender category would be suitable to draw the same relaxation in fee, age and qualifying criteria for SET as are open for to SC/ST/PWD classification.
Ques 9. What is the size of the file to upload my scanned photo, signature and other documents?
Ans: Applicant must upload a scanned photograph, signature, and caste/disability certificate if relevant in jpg/jpeg format only. The size of the photograph should be within 15 kb to 50 kb, Signature should be within 5 kb to 20 kb and certificates should be within 50kb to 200kb.
