More than 9.79 lakh Vacant Posts in Govt, Maximum of 2.93 lahks in Railways
He said in a written reply that the government released instructions to all ministries and departments for the timely filling up of the vacant posts. Rozgar melas- arranged by the Indian government, are expected to serve as a motivation for further employment generation.

Jitendra Singh, Union Minister of State for Personnel, informed that more than 9.79 lakh vacancies exist in diverse central government departments, including a highest of 2.93 lahks in railways, as on March 1, 2021. He stated that the occurrence and filling of vacancies is a constant procedure according to the requirement of different ministries, departments, and organisations of the Central government.
Jitendra Singh stated that the government has already allocated instructions to all departments and ministries for timely filling up of the Central government.

Citing the Department of Expenditure annual report, Singh said excluding railways, there were
- Defense (Civil): 2.64 lakh empty positions
- Home: 1.43 lakh
- Revenue: 80,243
- Posts: 90,050
- Indian audit & accounts department: 25,934
- Atomic energy department, among others: 9,460
