An Indian-American Mr. Sudarsanam Babu has been appointed as a member of the country's top science board the 'National Science Board'. Mr. Babu is from the ORNL (Oak Ridge National Laboratory) and has been appointed for the 6-year term. This appointment makes him the third Indian-American to join the board, the other two are Mr. Suresh V Garimella (from University of Vermont) and Mr. Sethuraman Panchanathan (from Arizona State University).

"Mr. Babu, who is from the esteemed Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL), has been designated as a member of the National Science Board for a six-year term", the White House said on Monday.

Mr. Babu has experience of 21 years in Additive Manufacturing, Advanced Manufacturing, Computational Materials Modeling, and Physical Metallurgy.

Mr. Babu earned his master of technology (industrial metallurgy - welding) from IIT-Madras in 1988 and a bachelor of engineering (metallurgy) from PSG College of Technology, Coimbatore in 1986.
