The European Language Certificates (TELC) FAQ's:
Ques 1. What is the purpose of the test?
Ans. A TELC certificate is proof of the language skills required to obtain German citizenship. The German Foreign Office accepts TELC certificates as proof of language skills required for Family reunification.
Ques 2. Where can a candidate take the test?
Ans. At all TELC examination centres.
Ques 3. Can a candidate repeat the test?
Ans. Yes, a candidate can repeat the exam as often as he/she wants to. But at level A1 the whole exam gets repeated, both the written and the oral part.
Ques 4. What is the fee for the test?
Ans. Each examination centre is free to determine the exam fee individually, so there is no fixed amount as a fee.
Ques 5. What is the scoring range of the test?
Ans. The total scores are 300 out of which 225 points are for written examination and 75 points are for the oral examination.
Ques 6. Who else recognizes the TELC test?
Ans. Following:

Individuals who are willing to apply for German citizenship can document the required language skills through TELC certificate.

TELC certificate is recognised by all German-speaking countries for residence permits also.

For immigration of a spouse to Germany, the TELC certificate is recognised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs too.

For a career in the civil service in Poland, TELC certificates are recognised as proof of language proficiency.

For higher education in Hungary, the government-accredited TELC examinations are a requirement.

In Switzerland, the required language skills for naturalization or acquisition into the Public Service can be proven with TELC certificates.

Turkish Higher Education Council (YOK) officially recognizes the TELC-language tests.
Ques 7. What is the exam schedule?
Ans. Exam dates can be set independently by each examination center as well as the examination prices can vary from test center to the test center.
Ques 8. When can a candidate expect the results?
Ans. Test results are available after four to six weeks.
Ques 9. For how long the test results are valid?
Ans. The TELC certificates are valid for an unlimited period.
Ques 10. In what languages the test can be taken?
Ans. Telc language tests can be taken in English, Turkish, German, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, Polish, Russian and Arabic.
