The New Delhi Board of School Education (DBSE) has been set up and held its first general meeting. The main focus of the conference was on the new academic year 2021-2022, as we all know that the separate board of Delhi education has come into existence on March 19. The Board has been registered under the Society Registration Act, 1860. Before that, the Delhi Education Board has sent the proposal to the Delhi Cabinet & it has been approved by them to set up DBSE on march 6.

Why has the separate Board come into existence?

Manish Sisodia, the Deputy Chief Minister, chaired the first general meeting of governing the new board. In this meeting, he stated that the new board would serve the students with high-quality knowledge for all the children who wish to take education under this board.

Main agenda of DBSE's first meeting: It's clearly stated by the Delhi government in its first meeting that the main agenda of the meeting is a solid discussion on the appraisal of the registration of newly set up Delhi Board of School Education under the act of Society Registration, 1860. Besides that, here, one more discussion has taken place about how the functioning of the new academic session has been processed and also the appraisal of the nominated members of the general board.

What's the reason for setting up the Delhi Board of School Education?

While meeting, the Chief Minister has outlined the education portfolio, as there are a total of eight wings out of which the senior education is included under the CBSE. Hence, the new DBSE is made separately because there is no particular state board for Delhi.

This proposal had been placed in front of the cabinet too, under the administration of Late Sheila Dikshit, the former Chief Minister, but at that time no clear decision was made.

The DBSE has been set under the governance of Manish Sisodia.

The entire education portfolio will be seen by him, as he is the expert of the education stream. He pays special attention towards the senior education, laws, and norms of the educational institutes, teaches, and parents also.

Change in education spheres & institution infrastructure

In the meeting, it was also discussed that 'the education sector has been developing in the past six years especially the government educational institutes'. Therefore, the Delhi Government is trying to do something better in the educational stream. They said that in the upcoming months or years, they would introduce something which will take the students to heights and bring an incredible change in their studies. Evolution is about to come that not only access the knowledge but also brings a variation in their skill, living standard, and attitude.

Budget for DBSE

Delhi Government AAP had presented their annual budget for the academic year 2021-2022 of Rs 62 crore which is only induced for the implementation or growth of the DBSE along with the student's welfare.

They said that DBSE would go to work on holistic studies and move students forward from rote-learning. Along with this, they make a community in their formative assessment by which they will get to know about the performance of the students. After that, they would work on the mindset of students and it will be positively strengthened by the DBSE. These things will help in learning and being a good person as well.

Furthermore, it was clearly stated that the teachers have to share the feedback of students timely. So, that strict action can be taken towards the performance of every child without wasting any time. If they are facing any problem, then it will be sorted out. These schools will go to appoint a teacher who will teach students with modern technology and serve them with a better experience.

The CM of Delhi said that around 25 government schools of Delhi will be affiliated to DBSE from the new academic year 2021-2022. If any private school wants to adopt this board, then he will also be welcomed. There are 1000 govt schools and 1700 private schools in Delhi. Out of them, the greater ratio is of schools affiliated to CBSE. At this time, not all the schools will be brought under the new board, but some of them will be.
