The three-day virtual conference devoted to exploring the future of education. The sector has undergone a full overhaul in the past year, from schools and colleges shut down due to the pandemic to the unveiling of the National Education Policy 2020. The three-day conference took up all the topics related to education. The debates took place over a virtual medium where the NEP was discussed in detail. The pros and cons of the new policy were pointed out.

What is the Future of Education?

The Future of Education brings together stakeholders from the education sector under one roof to discuss and deliberate on the evolution of India's system. The education sector is one of the largest and fastest-growing, with about 29 per cent of the country's population in the age group from 0 to 14 years. In the conference, it was stated that students will be taught self-reliance straight from the school level under NEP 2020. There are several revisions, including class 6 training courses, the implementation of school-level artificial intelligence, the right to select one's own subjects at the college level, and the establishment of an Academic Credit Bank where students who have dropped out can resume education from where they have dropped education.

Implementation of NEP:

In the nation, the education sector has come a long way—more so last year as Covid's spread-19 saw physical classrooms make way for online learning. In addition, the government has paved a way forward for what is known as 'blended education' with the introduction of the new education policy (NEP) in 2020. Panel discussions brought out different issues including ‘creating modern thinkers’, ‘from education to employment’ and many other similar topics. According to data released by the Department for the Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade, overall foreign direct investment (FDI) flowing into the education sector stood at $3.24 billion from April 2000 to March 2020. (DPIIT).

Is NEP Beneficial for Students from Abroad and Going Abroad?

Students who want to come and study in India but can not because of the way we credit our system, say academics as they discuss the effect of NEP's decision to set up Indian institutes abroad and allow foreign institutes to set up campuses in India. The disbalancing of the distribution of research funds to public and private research institutions would improve with the creation of the NRF. Indian institutes can become a worldwide research destination.

The theme of the final day was ‘journey towards a new word’ as the ministers and dignitaries from the educational sectors discuss the future of education in a post COVID-19 era.

Final Words:

The Indian Education Summit 2021 was a very needed conference after the New Education Policy was created and will soon be implemented. The NEP has to be discussed and debated before it is put into action. Thus this conference was very helpful and it picked out the prospective topics which had to be talked about. This conference has made the doubts in the minds of the students a bit less.
