What is BAMS?



BAMS means Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery which is a 5.5 years long graduate degree. It includes the study of the integrated system of modern medicine and traditional Ayurveda.BAMS is an undergraduate degree programme that is designed to make scholars familiar with the concepts of Ayurveda and use it for the treatment of patients. BAMS include the concepts of modern medicines and students are taught a combination of both as part of the course curriculum.



Ayurveda is one of the oldest systems of medicine and traces its roots to Vedic times. It is based on the properties of herbs and its medicines are known for the natural elements which is known as an alternative method of treatment. The Ayurveda medicine system not only cures and prevents an ailment but also mitigates the frequency with which diseases enter a human body. It utilises the self-healing system of the body.





Additionally,even the World Health Organisation is promoting the traditional medicine systems such as Ayurveda. Therefore, Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (BAMS) as a course has opened up myriad of golden opportunities for students.



ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:



The basic eligibility for pursuing this course is that the learners should have completed their Class 12 with Biology stream with at least 45-50% from a recognized board. BAMS Admission Process is based on the marks obtained in the NEET exam. Moreover, Admission to the BAMS course is through a unified directing dependent on the NEET merit list.



What after BAMS Course?



Successful graduates of the course are hired in both government and private Ayurveda clinics for positions such as Ayurvedic Drug Specialist or may pursue private practice. Areas of employment for such professionals include the healthcare community, life sciences industry, pharma industry, etc. To add up, such graduates are hired in capacities such as Medical Representative, Ayurvedic Doctor, Sales Representative, Area Sales Executive/Manager, Assistant Claims Manager, Pharmacist, Jr. Clinical Trial Coordinator, etc.
