B.D.S. in General Surgery is a 3 to 5 year-long undergraduate program in dentistry, which include advanced lessons that are unavoidable in the diagnosis and treatment of injuries or issues in the jaws and soft & hard oral tissues. All such injuries are cure by means of surgery on the teeth and jaw bones. The basic eligibility criterion for pursuing the course is a 10+2 or equivalent qualification in the Science stream, from a recognized educational Board, with a minimum aggregate score of 60%.

What is it About?

The program has been designed to offer eligible aspirants a wide range of skills and methods required to diagnose and treat diseases affecting the mouth, jaws, face, and neck, such as cancer, ulcers, etc., and also in performing dental surgery and other oral healthcare operations.The program primarily covers an academic study of all the aspects of dentistry and general surgery, from the simple surgical procedure of tooth extraction, to complex procedures that require extensive surgery in order to improve function, and appearance of teeth, and/ or to correct defects, repair injuries, or treat dental diseases.

Successful graduates of the course are professionally responsible for treating patients with conditions like extraction of wisdom teeth, facial injury, dental implants, and misaligned jaws. They may also perform minor cosmetic procedure for patients.Such candidates are trained to successfully treat oral diseases, as also pursue higher research in the discipline. Successful graduates interested in pursuing higher studies in the subject may go for pursuing higher courses such as M.D.S., Ph. D., D.D., etc. in the discipline Successful graduates of the course can expect anything between Rs 2 to 7 lacs as annual salary in the industry, increasing with experience and skillset.
