WHAT THIS COURSE IS ABOUT?

Bachelor of Science in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology or BASLP is an undergraduate course of 4 years. With the aid of this course, learners can become audiologists and speech-language pathologists. They can learn methods to treat, identify, and prevent hearing disorders in people. Moreover, the students are also taught about hearing aids and technology.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

The eligibility criteria for BASLP is that the student should have completed 10+2 with a minimum 50% in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology. Students who belong to SC/ST/OBC require a minimum of 45% in the 12th standard. Not only this, Students from both mathematics as well as biology groups are eligible. Also,5% relaxation is offered to the reserved categories.

The BASLP course consists of both theory and practical teachings with Audiology, and Speech-language pathology as primary subjects. In the final year, the students undergo internship and training for the rehabilitation of people who are suffering from speaking. If any candidate has more interest to pursue their further studies then there are plenty of opportunities available for them. They can go for a Master of Audiology, Master of Speech-language Pathology (MASLP), Master of Arts in Communication Sciences and Disorders, MSc Audio Speech Therapy, MA Communication Sciences and Disorders, MBA in Health-care Management, MSc in Molecular Pathology and many more.

After completion of the course the graduates can work as Clinical Audiologist, Instructor at special schools, Clinical Supervisor, BASLP professor, Hearing aid Specialist, Rehabilitation specialist, and much more. One can also choose to become a researcher in the field of audiology or speech-language pathology.The average salary for the students who graduated with BASLP ranges from Rs4 lakh to 4.5 lakh yearly. The salary depends upon the experience in the field and also on the internship done. The more experienced the student is, the higher is the salary.
