Today, October 12, 2023, the government of Bihar has announced that it will start inviting applications to recruit 70,000 teachers in middle, secondary, and senior secondary schools in Bihar.

In a letter dated October 6, the state education department formally requested approval from the accountant general to implement a new recruitment drive aimed at filling a total of 69,692 teacher vacancies. On Tuesday, October 10, 2023, the Bihar cabinet approved the recruitment of 69,692 teachers in Bihar government schools.

Additional Chief Secretary S Siddharth informed that the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) will initiate the registration procedure for the new Bihar teacher's recruitment drive 2023 once the BPSC completes the ongoing recruitment drive of 1.70 lakh teachers. He added that the cabinet approved a 100 percent hike in the monthly honorarium of 'Siksha Sewaks' and 'Vikas Mitras'.

Recognizing the pressing need for effective intervention to enhance the management and overall quality of Bihar government schools, the state's education department has taken a significant step. They have started recruiting new teachers under the 'Bihar State School Teachers (Appointment, Transfer, Disciplinary Proceedings, and Service Conditions) Rules, 2023'.

The recruitment campaign currently underway aims to hire 1.70 lakh teachers, primarily for government primary schools catering to students in Class 1 to 5. However, the Bihar government is now extending its recruitment efforts to address the needs of higher grade levels. They plan to appoint Trained Graduate Teachers (TGT) for Classes 6 to 8 and Post Graduate Teachers (PGT) for Classes 9 to 12.
