In a recent cabinet meeting led by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, the Bihar government made significant strides in the education sector and addressed the financial well-being of educators in the state.
Firstly, the cabinet approved recruiting 69,692 teachers for various classes within state-run schools. The Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) will be entrusted with the responsibility of conducting this recruitment drive. However, the initiation of this process is contingent on the completion of the ongoing recruitment of 1.70 lakh teachers by the BPSC.
Secondly, the cabinet approved a substantial increase in the monthly honorarium for 'Siksha Sewaks' and 'Vikas Mitras' working in the state. 'Siksha Sewaks' will see their monthly honorarium surge from Rs 11,000 to Rs 22,000, and they will also be entitled to an annual increment of 5%. Similarly, 'Vikas Mitras' under the SC and ST Welfare Department, who operate in the state's panchayats, will witness a notable boost in their monthly honorarium, receiving over Rs 25,000, as opposed to the previous Rs 13,700, coupled with a yearly 5% increment.
These decisions underscore the government's unwavering commitment to strengthening Bihar's education system. The recruitment of a substantial number of teachers is poised to enhance the quality of education, while the increase in honorarium recognizes and rewards the pivotal contributions made by 'Siksha Sewaks' and 'Vikas Mitras' in implementing vital developmental and welfare schemes in rural areas.
