Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan revealed the Sanskrit translation of the revered Lakshmi Purana at the Central Sanskrit University in Puri. This gesture emphasized the university's dedication to promoting Sanskrit and its cultural significance.
While inaugurating the international seminar on 'Lakshmi Purana,' Pradhan encouraged educators to explore unconventional teaching approaches, aiming to disseminate broader perspectives within the community.
During his address, Pradhan presented an insightful view, envisioning Sanskrit potentially as a language with deep-rooted connections to various linguistic traditions worldwide. He accentuated Sanskrit's historical importance, especially in ancient texts like the Vedas, which house vast knowledge across diverse domains, including medicine, law, politics, and social sciences, all preserved in this classical language.
In addition, Pradhan spearheaded developmental initiatives at the Sadashiv Campus of the Central Sanskrit University, emphasizing India's cultural diversity represented through languages like Sanskrit and Tamil. Pradhan highlighted the ongoing relevancy of India's ancient knowledge traditions and Vedic literature in modern society.
Highlighting the Lakshmi Purana's significance, Pradhan emphasized its potential to guide society towards social equity, women's empowerment, and inclusive development by drawing inspiration from the values embedded in Vedic literature.
Expressing hope, Pradhan envisioned the Central Sanskrit University as a platform for bridging generational gaps, fostering a strong connection between younger generations and India's linguistic and cultural legacy, specifically Sanskrit.
Authored by the revered saint poet Balaram Das in the 15th Century A.D. in Puri, Odisha, the Lakshmi Purana stands as a testament to India's cultural richness. Balaram Das, akin to the "Balmiki" of Odisha for his celebrated work, "Ramayan," penned in the Odia language, remains revered for his significant contributions to Indian literature and cultural heritage.
