Diploma in Animal Husbandry is a three or two-year full-time programme that focuses on imparting on-the-job training in animal care and breeding. It is a full time course that opens up ample job avenues on completion. The eligibility to pursue the course shall be pass in class 12th in Science stream with subjects in Physics, Chemistry and Biology/Agriculture as compulsory.



The curriculum of Diploma in Animal Husbandry course fosters practical skills in students by way of teaching subjects in Animal Nutrition, Animal Physiology, Genetics & Animals Breeding, Livestock Production & Management and Population Genetics Applied to Animal Breeding.



The annual fee charged by Universities/Institutions ranges between INR 1,500 and INR 35,000 and varies as per institute type. After completing Diploma in Animal Husbandry course students can be employed in dairy farms, poultry farms, stud farms, race clubs, animal clinics and private/government veterinary hospitals as Veterinarian, Farm Supervisor/Clerk/Supervisor, and Dairy Farm Manager. The entry-level salary is highly dependent on the kind of work one is associated with and on-job skills. The average salary for new entrants would be anything between INR 1 Lac and INR 6 Lacs.



Diploma in Animal Husbandry course, students may have many avenues to work in. Dairy farms, poultry farms, sheep and rabbit farms, stud farms, race clubs, animal clinics and private/government veterinary hospitals and clinics are areas that require people holding on-job knowledge and expertise. Also, the Army and BSFs employ Animal Husbandry professional for treating of their regiment horses, camels, mules and dogs.
