Diploma in Child Health is a 3 years full time undergraduate course. The minimum eligibility of this course is a Higher Secondary Certificate (10+2) qualification from any recognized university. The program is divided into 6 semesters, with the final semester based on the candidate’s chosen stream of study.The duration of Postgraduate Diploma in Child Health is a 1 year or 2 year full time Postgraduate course depends upon specific institute.



Diploma in Child Health: What is it about?



The program involves the study of health, wellness and illness. It offers students an understanding of health from biological, behavioral and population-based perspectives, through the integration of foundation and applied sciences. DCH meaning is that the study of physiology and young children and this special branch of health care is introduced to handle the disorders and health issues of the young children related to the growth and development stages. These problems should be handled at the earlier stage with high priority. This study enhances the knowledge of medical professionals and develops their practical knowledge regarding health care.



This course includes Childhood Diseases, Pediatric and Neonatal Therapeutics Growth and Development, Nutrition, Fluids and Electrolytes, Infectious Disease, Clinical Epidemiology, Respiratory System, Emergency Pediatric Services and Basic Science and Laboratory Medicine.



This course equips the learners with information, skills and increased amount of practical experience and one of the prime objectives of this course is to make the learners an expert in a specific area along with inculcating the clinical abilities.

In this job, main emphasis is given on nursing care of infants, children and adolescents at the community level and at primary and secondary levels of health care. They may also work as Associate Professor, Nutrition Specialist, Nutrition Coordinator, Sports Nutritionist, Personal Physician etc.After the successful completion of Diploma in Child Health (DCH), study program one can be recognized as Paediatricians.
