As per a statement released today, July 10, by the Indian Institute of Management Calcutta (IIM Calcutta), the institute has introduced a six-month business management programme for defence personnel.

The six-month business management certificate programme is particularly designed as a unique transitional course for officers of the armed forces. This unique offering serves as a bridge to new horizons in the corporate realm. The inaugural batch commenced its immersive learning experience on the prestigious campus of IIM Calcutta, setting the stage for a transformative educational voyage.

The course aims to equip officers with essential management skills and expose them to emerging ideas across various disciplines. The curriculum strikes a harmonious balance between core management concepts and cutting-edge insights. It aims to empower defence personnel- retired and serving, to become "future-ready" professionals poised to excel in the corporate landscape.

The inauguration ceremony witnessed the esteemed presence of Maj Gen H Dharmarajan, the General Officer Commanding HQ Bengal Sub-Area, alongside the Director of IIM Calcutta, Uttam Kumar Sarkar. The programme directors, Nandita Roy and Somdeep Chatterjee led an engaging academic orientation, setting the stage for the enriching journey that lies ahead.
