A first-of-its-kind job fair is being organised by the Jammu and Kashmir Skill Development Department for ITI trained unemployed youth from remote areas. The job fair is being organised in the Kathua district.
The fair was inaugurated by the Principal Secretary of the Skill Development Department Dr. Asgar Hassan Samoon in the presence of Prof Ashok Aima, Vice-Chancellor of Central University and Raj Nehru, Vice-Chancellor of the Shri Vishwakarma Skill University in Haryana.
As private companies and industries have started approaching the region, a huge number of ITI-trained unemployed youth congregated at the fair and registered their names for placement in various private sectors. More than 45 organizations participated in the fair and several institutions offered on-the-spot jobs.
Dr. Samoon said, "Under the direction of the Centre, several activities are going on to arrange jobs for unemployed youth. There are 1,50,000 trained youth in our state ready to join the workforce. We are working closely with the private sector and local industry to provide employment".
Several reformative measures have also been launched by the government to promote skill development in Jammu and Kashmir with the advancement of Industrial Training Institutes, he further added.
He also said, "Kathua ITI is going to be the Centre of Excellence in Automobile Technology for which an MoU with Ashok Leyland has been signed which will further help the students of Jammu and Kashmir interested in establishing a career in the automotive technology sector". Instilling entrepreneurship orientation among the candidates along with education will help them become job providers instead of job seekers.
