In 10 months, more than 13,000 openings within Central Higher Education Institutions (CHEIs) have been successfully filled through a dedicated recruitment initiative, according to information shared in the Lok Sabha by Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
Minister Pradhan clarified that the occurrence of vacancies and their subsequent filling is an ongoing process. Such vacancies typically arise due to retirements, resignations, and the need for additional staff to accommodate a growing student body. The Ministry of Education has issued directives to all CHEIs to swiftly address these vacancies through a mission-oriented approach, which includes a targeted effort to fill posts reserved for specific categories. As of August 3, a notable achievement of 13,371 positions has been filled within CHEIs during merely ten months as part of this Mission Recruitment drive.
However, the specific number of remaining vacant positions is not included in the provided information. In February, the ministry had communicated that there were more than 14,600 unfilled faculty positions within central HEIs.
