Aspects such as huge skill upgrading technologies such as Cloud and AI, risk-taking and policies would play a significant role in positioning India as a leading innovation hub worldwide, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of IBM Arvind Krishna said.

Krishna also mentioned that the risk of the decade is cybersecurity and it should be equally important in the physical world (physical security and monetary security) as well. He further added, "Regulations and policy, risk-taking and massive skill upscaling in the relevant technologies which I think are Artificial Intelligence and Cloud for the next decade" when asked about things that could be done right to make India a leading innovation hub.

He also said that the underlying data standards have been the hot topic within the country and the government is also looking towards it as this has to be enabled in a good way that can help not just the local economy but also the export of services and software. He added, "Inside the culture of an enterprise/ firm, you've got to allow teams to be able to fail sometimes, but fail early and fail smart, don't go on for a long time".

Regarding IBM's R&D (Research and Development) team in India, he informed that the department produces around 1000 patents a year which is tremendous as compared to other companies. He also said that digital education does not have to replace or displace schools and colleges but to elevate them so that the right skills could be achieved.
