13th July is celebrated as the 206th Birth Anniversary of Bhanubhakta Acharya. He was a Nepali poet, translator and writer. He was the first writer to translate the great epic Ramayana from Sanskrit to Nepali. Before that, no one was able to translate [Ramayan] to any other language. He is honoured with the title of Aadikavi (The First Poet) of the Nepali language.



He was born on 13th July 1813 (29th Day of Hindu Ashadh month). He did his education in Sanskrit initially from his Grandfather, later he moved to Varanasi to further continue his education in Sanskrit. On top of it,his translation of Ramayana in the Nepali language is very helpful for the community of Nepal to understand Ramayana.



HOW IT IS CELEBRATED



This day is celebrated with great enthusiasm at the Community Hall in Gyalshing, West Sikkim. On this day,people celebrate the ceremony of garlands.



To add up,He is an inspiration not only for writers but also for all those who believe in the power of the language. His greatest work was his translation of the ‘Ramayana’ from Sanskrit into Nepali language. People of the Nepal feels motivate by seeing the great work done by him.
