Australian Education Minister Jason Clare and 21 officials of Australian universities will participate in an event at Delhi University college today in order to discuss cooperation between the two countries in the education sector. Sri Venkateswara College plans to organise a programme on Deepening Ties through Two-Way Mobility.

Principal C Sheela Reddy informed that the Australian High Commission approached the college for the visit of their delegates. Jason Clare will be the chief guest of the event. Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan will be attending the occasion today as the guest of honour.

Reddy said the event aims to highlight the significance of bilateral collaboration between India and Australia. She added that India has a rich cultural heritage. This event will help understand the higher education aspirations of the University of Delhi UG students through dialogue.

The event will help in promoting collaborations between India and Australia. During the event, CEOs, vice-chancellors, and provosts of 21 Australian universities and institutes will participate in a round table discussion on Internationalising higher education.

Reddy said: In this event, we are not having a memorandum of understanding (MoU). In our college premises, we are not signing any MoU. They want to visit one college of Delhi University and have selected the college on the south campus, said Reddy. Barry O’ Farrell, Australian High Commissioner; Tony Cook, Deputy Secretary, Department of Education, Australia; Joe Collins, Advisor to Minister; Adam Gilchrist, Global Brand Ambassador, the University of Wollongong and former international cricketer; and Mathew Johnston, Minister Counsellor (Education and Research) will be guests of honour.

Professor Yogesh Singh, Vice Chancellor of DU, will preside over the event.

Chairman of the Governing Body of Sri Venkateswara College, Y V Subba Reddy, and Principal C Sheela Reddy will also attend the occasion. From the Indian side, principals of all Delhi University colleges have been invited to the event.

A round table conference on Internationalising higher education will be held during this event to encourage conversation between the Australian delegation and principals of affiliated colleges of Delhi University on the significance of internationalising higher education, embracing global engagement, and the positive influence on rankings, Delhi University said in a statement.

The event is essential as Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese will make his maiden trip to India early next month to promote comprehensive bilateral engagement in areas, such as trade, investment, and critical minerals.
