On July 18, 2022, Jason Clare, Education Minister, announced the results of the Australian Research Council's Industrial Transformation Training Centers and Industrial Transformation Research Hubs.
The ARC (Australian Research Council) awarded three crucial subsidies to The University of Queensland in order to launch two new Industrial research hubs and a training center. Associate Professor Mark Blaskovich from The University of Queensland Institute for Molecular Biosciences will conduct the ARC Training Centre for Environmental and Agriculture Solutions to Antimicrobial Resistance. The center will place Australia as a Global Leader in inventing industry-led solutions to oppose antimicrobial resistance in farming and the environment, improve animal health and new antibiotics, and contribute to cleaner water.
Professor Keith Crews, who belongs to the Faculty of Engineering of The University of Queensland, will lead the Research Hub to Advance Timber for Australia's Future Built Environment. The Research hub will examine the possibilities of products to remold construction and building industries in Australia and decrease greenhouse gas excretion at the same time.
Professor Kris Thurecht of UQ's Australian Institute for Bioengineering and Nanotechnology and Center for Advanced Imaging will lead the ARC Research Hub for Advanced Manufacture of Targeted Radiopharmaceuticals. The research hub will collaborate with major International and National pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies. This partnership will bring the salient onshore ability to fabricate next-generation technologies and medical devices.
