Australia's Department of Home Affairs provided important information about the country's student visa program. In 2021 and 2022, Australia granted 230,000 visas, and only 40% have been issued to students from the four leading countries for those returning to Australia. These four top countries are India, China, Nepal, and Vietnam.



As per the reports, student visa lodgements gained a high of473,415 in 2018-19 and then immersed to 262,633 in the year 2021-2022. Visa applications volumes streamed back in 2021-22 to reach 314,388 on 22 May 2022.



The Australian government's revenue year ends on 30 June. Due to the pandemic, Australia's reopened its border for international students on 15 December 2022. The returning number of the students mentioned above reflects the number of students traveling to the country between December mid-2021 and May 2022.



This year's report for 2021-22 symbolizes approximately 60% of the pre-pandemic volume for Chinese student visa applications. In comparison, Indian student visa applicants have returned to 64% of the pre-pandemic extent. India's year-to-date for 2021-22 is 57,635 as conflicted to 89,868 in 2018-19. On the other hand, Nepalese student visa applications reached 90% of pre-pandemic.



On 19 June 2022, there were 469,306 Australian student visa holders extensively. One-third of the total students, i.e 354,475, was in Australia, with a balance of 114,831 presently based out of the nation. Keeping in mind the returning numbers from India, Nepal, and China, the procedure of reconstructing Australia's foreign enrolment resumes this year. To conclude, the number of active student visa holders within and outside of Australia has returned approximately to 80% of pre-pandemic levels by May 2022.
