The Foreign Minister of Australia Marise Payne has introduced the 'Maitri Scholars Program'. Under the program, the Australian govt will provide more than USD 11 million for 04 years.



This funding will help Indian students in continuing their studies in the world-leading universities of Australia.



The Australian Foreign Minister Payne, during the joint press, also announced to launch several initiatives to boost the cultural and educational ties between India and Australia. She added, "The initiatives are appropriately called the 'Maitri', meaning friendship initiatives".



The Australian Govt will provide USD 3.5 million under the 'Maitri Fellowship Program' for the duration of 04 years to build connections between future leaders and to support Indian and Australian professionals to associate on strategic research initiatives, she added.



The Govt will also provide more than $ 06 million under the Maitri Cultural Partnerships over 04 years to support cultural exchanges and to boost the part of creative industries among the two countries.



Payten believes the Maitri Program to be a significant positive for the Australian education sector, recovering from the COVID's economic impact.
