The British Council has reported that for the 2023 edition of the UK Alumni Awards, they received applications from 1,200 candidates from 100 different countries. Remarkably, the applicants in the 2023 cycle represented more than 120 educational institutions across the UK.
The British Council also underscored the United Kingdom's enduring popularity as a preferred study destination for Indian students. Notably, as per data from the UK Home Office, a substantial increase of approximately 54% in the number of sponsored study visas granted to Indian students was recorded in the year ending June 2023. This brought the total to an impressive 1,42,848 visas, highlighting the UK's continued appeal as a sought-after hub for higher education among Indian scholars.
