EAM Subrahmanyam Jaishankar Inaugurates the First-ever International Fair of J&K
Jammu and Kashmir's first-ever International Education Fair, a collaborative approach of SKUAST-Kashmir and ICCR, was introduced by Union Minister for External Affairs Subrahmanyam Jaishankar today at Sushma Swaraj, New Delhi.

Jammu and Kashmir's first-ever International Education Fair, a collaborative approach of SKUAST-Kashmir and ICCR, was introduced by Union Minister for External Affairs Subrahmanyam Jaishankar today at Sushma Swaraj, New Delhi. Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, ICCR President Vinay Sahasrabuddhe, and Lieutenant Governor of Jammu & Kashmir Manoj Sinha were present during the inauguration.



Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, Union External Affairs Minister and Chief Guest for the event, complemented the SKUSAT-Kashmir for the initiative of the International Education Fair.



He stated three years ago, the procedure of change began in J&K, which aimed to ensure that the full advantages of the development and progress that the rest of India had seen for many years are also now available to the people, especially to the youth of Jammu and Kashmir.



In that sense, the people of Jammu and Kashmir being in the national mainstream was excessively important. It was also by doing so they would tie up with the rest of India and the International mainstream. For me, it is not just an education event, it is an essential part of assuring that a significant region of India is associated with what is happening in the world, Jaishankar said.



He also followed that Indian universities should concentrate on inviting more international students to their campuses.



Jaishankar added that in a globalised world, it is vital that the young people of India are totally aware of what is happening in the world. There is no better method to do that than having international students among you.



Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan congratulated the government of Jammu and Kashmir for showing the power and vibrancy of India’s higher education landscape and the knowledge legacy of J&K.



Union Education Minister said Jammu and Kashmir are noticing a new beginning of development under the visionary leadership of the Hon’ble Prime Minister. With the execution of the National Education Policy 2020, we are internationalising our education sector. The Education Ministry will support, promote and encourage the globalisation of SKUAST-Kashmir.



Pradhan also urged all the universities to join measures to establish India as a global study destination.



Manoj Sinha, Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, expressed his appreciation to Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi Ji for revving the development of J&K and changing it into a favourite destination for travellers, entrepreneurs, and students.



The Lieutenant Governor said with this initiative, J&K has introduced a committed programme for international students.



Lieutenant Governor said our aim is to invite international students to Jammu and Kashmir for short and long-term courses in different disciplines & strengthen the global connection. Over the past three years, we have concentrated on strengthening the education sector and developing knowledge workers for sectors like agriculture, industries, and health care. Sincere actions have been made to restore the knowledge dividends into wealth for innovation & growth processes.



The Lieutenant Governor also marked that the SKUAST-Kashmir initiative will develop an example for other universities in the country.



The Lieutenant Governor added that apart from campuses nestled in nature’s paradise with professional faculties and a high standard of living, Jammu and Kashmir is also delivering a variety of courses starting from Artificial Intelligence, Sanskrit, Yoga, Robotics to Agri science, and interface with the industries for research and innovation.





The Lieutenant Governor said with more than 150 higher educational institutes, two central universities, seven state universities, two AIIMS, NIFT, IIT, IIM, NIT, IIMC, and two Agriculture Science & Technology universities, Jammu Kashmir has appeared as a favourite destination for students in India.



He also said that the paradigm changes towards the integrity of life that humankind is witnessing are also an opportunity to improve the quality of life by exchanging programs between nations and helping each other to accomplish greater heights in our journey.



The Lieutenant Governor said the world looks at India with admiration and hope. There never was a time to be in India to notice and understand the glorious chapters of ancient civilization and eternal organic composite culture. The international student’s residential and exchange programs, contacts, and institutional dealings with the diverse institutions of Jammu Kashmir will improve and strengthen global cultural synergies.



President Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), Vinay Sahasrabuddhe, ensured the cooperation and support of ICCR to Jammu and Kashmir in organizing the exchange programs of artisans and airs whereby the message of changing new aspirational Jammu and Kashmir goes loud and clear to other nations.
