The Ministry of Education organized a national workshop with the state nodal officers of NMMSS (National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship Scheme). Additional Secretary of Department of School Education and Literacy LS Changsan led the workshop which was attended by the education officers of states and union-territories.
The objective of the workshop was to speed up the registration process of fresh applications and renewals for 2022-23.
On the occasion, Changsan, while speaking on the occasion, talked about the significance of timely scholarship payments to students belonging to economically weaker sections and the requirement for swift verification of applications by state-level officers.
NSP Nodal Officers made a presentation regarding the registration and verification procedure on the Portal followed by detailed interaction between the MoE officers, state government officials and officers from the DBT and NSP. The interaction was held on the implementation modalities regarding the registration, verification and payment procedure of NMMSS scholarships in online mode through the NSP.
Under the ‘National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship Scheme’, the scholarships are granted to meritorious students belonging to EWS category to encourage them to continue their secondary education. 1 lakh scholarships are awarded every year and the amount of scholarship is Rs 12000.
