Education Ministry To Organise UNESCO-India-Africa Hackathon from Nov 22

The Ministry of Education is collaborating with the MEA (Ministry of External Affairs) and UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) to organise the UNESCO-India-Africa Hackathon 2022. The Hackathon will be organized from Nov 22 to Nov 25, 2022.



A total of 23 nations, 46 mentors, and 412 students will be participating in the event. The Hackathon will be based on 05 themes and will include 39 nodal agencies. The five themes are: 1) Education, 2) Renewable Energy/ Sustainability, 3) Agriculture, 4) Drinking Water and Sanitation, and 5) Health and Hygiene.



The official website also states, "The UNESCO INDIA – AFRICA Hackathon is an annual 36 hours event that brings together students, educators, teachers, and the research community of India and its African partners to tackle the common challenges faced by their countries and serves as a facilitator for cultural amalgamation".



UIA Hackathon Procedure:





  • The participants will be shortlisted for the grand finale after pre-screening and filtration by the nodal agencies. The team size for the grand finale should not be less than of 6 members.




  • Participants must have specialization/ knowledge in software development/ coding in UI/UX, AR/VR, AI/ML, DATA ANALYSIS, IoT, etc.




  • For each participating team, 02 mentors will be provided by the nodal agencies in order to get the best feasible solution.
