The second edition of the programme 'Fit India School Week' has been concluded by the Union Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju in the presence of superior dignitaries of education and sports ministry. To celebrate the programme, the event's virtual demonstration was given by the students of Kendriya Vidyalaya - 2, Naval Base, Kochi performing Surya Namaskar, Aerobics, Free-Hand Exercises, Dance, and Extempore performance online.



Kiran Rijiju, appreciating their performance, said, "While we run the Fit India Mission, it is being driven by the Education Ministry, the schools and the people of India, especially the children. I am so happy to see that schools across India have adopted Fit India Week celebrations in such a way that Fitness has become an integral part of school life and I relish the movement when I join such active and intelligent students".



The Fit India School Week's 2nd Edition was started on Dec 01, 2020, and will be concluding on Jan 31, 2021. The Mission was conducted with the objective to encourage students to take part in physical activities and sports on a daily basis. More than 3.5 lakh schools from across the nation participated in the event virtually and on on-ground platforms keeping in mind the current COVID-19 situation.



The Fit India School programme was launched last year in November month and the schools participated via registering from the official website. The schools were asked to choose one week during the mentioned time to celebrate the Week.
