France Removes COVID-Related Restrictions For All Travellers

From August 01, the France Govt will allow all travellers to enter the country without having to adhere to any COVID-related entry restrictions as the country has taken the decision to drop all of them. The French Govt took the decision after careful consideration of the infection and the vaccination rates.



The French Ministry of Interior announced the decision regarding the lifting of the COVID entry restrictions, reports SchengenVisaInfo.com. According to the Ministry, there is no requirement to produce any vaccination, test, or recovery certificate by any traveller, regardless of their origin country, upon their arrival.



Moreover, the Govt has granted permission to enter the country for all kinds of purposes without having to furnish any compelling reason to justify the obligation to enter the country's territory. The Ministry states, "Faced with the new phase of the pandemic, the border health control system is lifted, in accordance with the law putting an end to the exceptional regimes created to fight against the epidemic linked to covid-19. As a result, since August 1, 2022, the rules previously applied to travellers to France no longer apply".



The Ministry also mentioned that there is no requirement to produce a sworn statement of non-contamination by incoming travellers neither they have to undergo any examination or testing upon their arrival.



Even though its COVID restrictions have been abolished for international travellers, the French Govt pointed out that they might reintroduce the measures if there is a serious health threat from the virus in the future. As per the WHO report, the country recorded 387,491 new COVID cases in the last 07 days.



The European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control reports that 92.0% of the entire adult population in the country has taken primary vaccination, whereas, another 74.1% have taken the 1st booster shot.



Apart from France, a total of 26 EU/ EEA countries have dropped their entry rules permitting restriction-free entry. The countries include Austria, Bulgaria, Belgium, Czechia, Cyprus, Croatia, Denmark, Estonia, France, Finland, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Iceland, Italy, Lithuania, Latvia, Malta, Norway, Portugal, Poland, Romania, Slovenia, Slovakia, Switzerland, and Sweden.
