The Bureau of Police Research and Development (BPR&D) in collaboration with the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has launched a unique national initiative - Hackathon MANTHAN 2021.

The Hackathon has been launched to determine innovative approaches and technology to address the security issues of the 21st century confronted by the intelligence agencies.

The Director General of BPR&D IPS V.S.K. Kaumudi and the Chairman of AICTE Prof. Anil D. Sahasrabudhe launched the hackathon at National Media Centre.

This online Hackathon has been scheduled to be held from Nov 28 to Dec 01, 2021, i.e. 36 hours. The participants will be shortlisted from education institutions across the country and registered start-ups.

The aim of the competition is to offer safe, strong and effective technological solutions by using the candidates' innovative skills and technical expertise.

The winning teams will be awarded the total prize money of Rs. 40 Lakh. The participants will be asked to develop digital solutions under 6 themes for 20 different challenge statements using latest technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, Augmented reality, Deep Learning, Machine Learning, etc. for inconsistent security related issues. It will include photo/ video analysis, predictive Cyber Crime data analytics, Fake Content Identification along with the creator's information, etc.

The MANTHAN 2021 Hackathon will be held in two phases:

  • 1st phase: In this phase, the participants will be asked for the submission of their concepts against the issue statements which they want to resolve on the portal. A group of experts will evaluate the submitted concepts and will shortlist only the innovative ideas for the 2nd phase.

  • The next phase or Grand Finale will be held from Nov 28, 2021. During this phase, the shortlisted participants will be asked to develop the solution to exhibit their concepts which can prove to the juries that the technical feasibility and implementation of their ideas.

The registration process has been started and the interested candidates can visit the official website at manthan.mic.gov.in to participate in the event.
