The SIIC (Start-up Innovation and Incubation Centre), an incubator of IIT Kanpur, will launch the 2nd edition of the Heritage Olympiad, Cultre. The Olympiad will be launched on the occasion of Children's Day i.e. Nov 14.

The focus of the 2nd edition will be on conveying the preliminary understanding of the Indian culture and heritage. It will also focus on the creation of the traditions and how it will get passed on to the next generations.

The Director of IIT Kanpur Abhay Karandikar said, "Cultre's Heritage Olympiad goes beyond just imparting knowledge around the subject, it also prompts people to learn about their country and its diverse history". SIIC has always supported, created, and promoted technology and knowledge-intensive innovations to endorse the Indian heritage.

The Olympiad's curriculum strictly aligns with the curriculum and syllabus followed across national and international boards to ensure the development of Indian heritage.

The primary objective of the Olympiad is to integrate heritage education in the conventional curriculum and to make it more accessible to school level students.

In 2020, over 2500 participants aged 09 to 65 years registered in the event. The event also received immense support from eminent organisations including Amar Chitra Katha, Sahapedia, UNESCO, National Rail Museum, Royal Opera House, Mumbai, Mehrangarh Museum Trust, and Nehru Planetarium.
