The (IELTS) International English Language Testing System, which leads the English proficiency test for candidates moving to study abroad, will now let them retake IELTS 2023 exam if they are not pleased with their score on the first try. The IELTS One Skill Retake, first available exclusively in Australia, is being introduced in other countries in 2023, including India.

The IELTS One Skill Retake procedure, for both IELTS Academic and General Training tests, enables candidates to retake the examination in any of its components instead of all four, which include reading, speaking, listening, and writing.

The structure and timing of the IELTS One Skill Retake test are the same as a regular IELTS test.

Candidates can prearrange an IELTS One Skill Retake for 60 days after the original test and are allowed solely one retake for each complete IELTS test, meaning they cannot retake the test in more than one component.

After the test retake, the candidates will acquire a new test report form displaying the revised IELTS result- the new score for one skill and the scores for the other three skills in the actual examination. Candidates can decide whether to use the original or the new examination result form.

International English Language Testing System (IELTS) is a standardised English language proficiency examination that allows people to work, pursue study, or resettle in a country where English is the native language. IELTS is most prevalent in nations like Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, and New Zealand and is also globally acknowledged by employers, educational institutions, and immigration bodies.
