For Indian candidates gearing up for the IELTS (International English Language Testing System) examination, there is a significant development to enhance their prospects. The newly introduced IELTS One Skill Retake feature, accessible at select IELTS Computer Delivered test centers across India, grants candidates the opportunity to reattempt a specific IELTS skill – whether Listening, Reading, Writing, or Speaking – in case they fall short of their target score in that particular skill during their initial attempt.

It is important to note that this option is exclusively available for candidates opting for the Computer Delivered IELTS test.

Key Features of IELTS One Skill Retake:

  1. Flexibility: Test takers can selectively reattempt only the specific skill in which they wish to improve their score rather than retaking the entire IELTS examination.

  2. Recognized by Authorities: IELTS One Skill Retake is accepted by diverse institutions and authorities, including the Australian Department of Home Affairs, the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency, and an increasing number of universities and institutions each month.

  3. Accessible: IELTS One Skill Retake is available for both Academic and General IELTS and can be accessed at all 47 IELTS computer centers across India.

  4. New Test Report Form (TRF): Test takers who choose this option will receive a new Test Report Form (TRF) containing their improved score. Depending on their score, they can decide whether to use the old or new TRF for the skill they retook.

  5. Ongoing Recognition: While IELTS One Skill Retake is continually gaining recognition for migration and study purposes, test takers are advised to stay updated by checking the official IELTS website for announcements regarding its acceptance.

This initiative reflects IELTS' commitment to assisting test takers in achieving their desired scores and supporting organizations in selecting the right candidates. It offers greater flexibility and control for test takers, streamlining their path to achieving their study and migration goals. This innovation aligns with IELTS' mission to enhance fairness and accessibility in English language proficiency testing.
