IIT Guwahati & Samagra Shiksha, Assam, to Organise Activities to Develop Scientific Temper in School Students
Under the Rashtriya Avishkar Abhiyan, IIT Guwahati will support Samagra Shiksha, Assam (SSA), to conduct different activities in a state-run school in Assam for secondary students. State-level activities contain quiz competitions, science, and math olympiad, mentoring 300 schools across Assam, science and math club formation in such schools, and science exhibitions.

Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati (IIT Guwahati) recently signed an agreement with Samagra Shiksha, Assam (SSA). IIT Guwahati and SSA will schedule activities to strengthen students' ability to handle a competitive environment and generate a scientific temper.



Under the Rashtriya Avishkar Abhiyan, IIT Guwahati will support Samagra Shiksha, Assam (SSA), to conduct different activities in a state-run school in Assam for secondary students. State-level activities contain quiz competitions, science, and math olympiad, mentoring 300 schools across Assam, science and math club formation in such schools, and science exhibitions.



For the mentioned activities, IIT Guwahati will prepare a roadmap and an activity calendar for implementing tinkering labs across all districts in Assam. The roadmap and calendar will include:




  • Starting the online registration process of all nominated students and teachers.

  • Hosting participants during the science conference.

  • Delivering logistical and technical help to participating schools.

  • Creating an online portal for monitoring and progress showcase of all Rashtriya Avishkar Abhiyan measures in Assam.

  • Network with other Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) for mentoring support.



The Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati, launched the qualifying round for the quiz competition via online mode witnessing participation from around 5000 students from 33 districts of Assam. The topics of the quiz competition included geography, business, science and technology, history, culture, sports, and current affairs. Toppers from each district will be contacted for the final leg of the competition in the March first week.



Parameswar K Iyer, officiating director of IIT Guwahati, said IIT Guwahati is pleased to contribute in the area focusing on developing scientific temper among school students. Under the Rashtriya Avishkar Abhiyan of the Ministry of Education, IIT Guwahati is cooperating with other Higher Educational Institutes of the state for mentoring higher secondary schools across the state.
