On Thursday, the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur (IIT Kanpur) signed a joint doctoral degree and research cooperation agreement with the University of Alberta, Canada.



Under this collaboration, doctoral students of both universities will be allowed to perform research at the partner university for one year.



The partnership will also promote research cooperation between faculty members of the two institutes on energy materials, technologies, and systems required for the clean energy transition.



This agreement promotes joint research in energy materials, systems, and technologies. The collaborative doctoral programme will offer students the opportunity to work with world-famous faculty at both universities in critical research areas of mutual interest and authorize them to earn experience while pursuing their doctoral studies.



Professor Abhay Karandikar, IIT Kanpur Director; Professor Dhirendra Katti, Dean of International Relations from IIT Kanpur; Professor William Flanagan, President & Vice-Chancellor; Dr. Cen Huang, Vice-Provost & Associate Vice-President (International) from the University of Alberta signed the agreement for the collaboration.



During the signing ceremony, Karandikar said we are excited to associate with the University of Alberta on this collaborative doctoral programme. This agreement will offer the students unique opportunities to work with leading researchers in their fields and will help to facilitate collaboration between our institutes. This collaboration is another influential addition to the growing collaborative RandD ecosystem at IIT Kanpur. The agreement will enable us to share expertise and resources and help to promote research in key areas of mutual interest.
