IIT Kanpur to Host Annual Startup Festival- 'Abhivyakti 2023'
SIIC, IIT Kanpur signed an agreement with the Hinduja Group in order to collaborate on boosting the startup ecosystem in India by delivering support to budding entrepreneurs, encouraging innovation, and driving growth in the Indian startup ecosystem.

Startup Incubation and Innovation Centre (SIIC) at the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur (IIT Kanpur) has organised a startup festival- Abhivyakti, from March 4 to 5, 2023, at the institute. IIT Kanpur organise the startup fest to bring together people from diverse walks of life, including government officials, budding entrepreneurs, investors, industry representatives, and mentors from across the country.



Two significant developments took position on the inaugural day of the event. SIIC, IIT Kanpur signed an agreement with the Hinduja Group in order to collaborate on boosting the startup ecosystem in India by delivering support to budding entrepreneurs, encouraging innovation, and driving growth in the Indian startup ecosystem.



The inaugural session also noticed the launch of the SIDBI Seed Equity Support Scheme (S4-SIIC). According to the official release, SIDBI is setting up a pilot fund of Rs. 50 crore. 10 crores each year through this fund will be used for helping the hard-tech startups incubated at SIIC, IIT Kanpur.



As part of the fest, several revolutionary innovations will be displayed. Agritech, Cybersecurity, Cleantech, Healthcare, Infrastructure, Fintech, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Defence, Sustainability, and the Internet of things were just some of the sectors that participated on the inaugural day.



Professor Abhay Karandikar, Director of IIT Kanpur, said we are proud to host the Abhivyakti Startup Festival at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT Kanpur), which brings together the most brilliant minds in the startup ecosystem, including entrepreneurs, mentors, investors, and government officials. Our mission at IIT Kanpur is to promote innovation and entrepreneurship across sectors, and this festival is a testament to our affirmation of that mission.



The festival will act as a launchpad for many profitable startups and will contribute significantly to the development of the startup ecosystem in India.



Professor Ankush Sharma, Professor-in-Charge, of Innovation and Incubation, at IIT Kanpur, said Abhivyakti is a great initiative that delivers a platform for startups to showcase their ideas and tie with investors and mentors. It is heartening to see the passion and energy of these young entrepreneurs, and I am sure that many of them will go on to become successful businessmen.
