The Indian Institute of Technology, Mandi Catalyst has started its 2nd Startup Exploration Programme of 2021. The Himachal Pradesh Govt gave the responsibility to the Institute to disburse Rs 10 Crore under the Him Startup Yojana. The Yojana provides up to Rs 50 lakhs for the startups' commercialisation.

So far, IIT Mandi Catalyst has supported around 140 startups in 08 batches.

Around 23 startup teams, including 11 teams from Himachal Pradesh, will be awarded the funding of Rs. 50 lakh alongwith the training and mentorship from IIT Mandi. These teams should be working in sectors including Agrotech, Waste Management, Healthtech, Cleantech, and Enterprise Management.

The IIT Mandi Catalyst will shortlist these 23 teams through a rigorous training and mentoring procedure over the duration of next 03 months. After the specified duration, the teams will be asked to present their refined ideas on a 'Demo day'.

IIT Mandi Catalyst, under various funding schemes, will support the most suitable ideas through a 01-year program.

The Director of Dept of Industries, HP Rajesh Kumar Prajapati encouraged the teams, on the occasion, and congratulated them on taking part in starting a venture.

He also informed that the Ministry of Finance awarded the 07 rank to Himachal Pradesh in the country for 'Ease of doing Business' in 2019.
