On Wednesday, the Indo-German collaborative working group met in New Delhi in order to encourage (VET) Vocational Education and Training.
This time, it was the 12th edition of the meeting, in which the professionals assessed the skills gaps in the country.
Joint Secretary, Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Government of India, KK Dwivedi and Senior Policy Officer of division 222: ERASMUS; International Cooperation in Vocational Training, Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) Alexander Hochradel co-chaired the meeting held in New Delhi.
The meeting aimed to institutionalise a standard mechanism for VET- Vocational Education and Training to meet the skill requirements in priority sectors according to the German guidelines. In order to achieve this, a skill mapping approach will be undertaken to assess the skill gaps. Based on this, bridge courses and upskilling programmes will be developed and created for the skill training of Indian workers.
A framework for employer connect will also be introduced to get an understanding of how skilled and certified workers could participate in economic development.
The official release said that mutual accreditation of training providers in both nations via G2G, G2B, and B2B tie-ups with appropriate institutions having international standards for training, assessment, and certifications would also be undertaken.
The two collaborating countries will also deliver technical support for (ToT) the Training of Trainers, (ToA) Trainers of Assessors, the development of industry-relevant content and curriculum, and foreign language training.
