India Wins all Gold Medals in International Biology Olympiad 2023
A total of 293 students from 76 countries participated in the International Biology Olympiad (IBO), where India and Singapore stood out by securing all four gold medals. India's gold medal sweep and overall dominance in the competition marked a historic milestone for India.

In a remarkable achievement, India has emerged as the top contender in the International Biology Olympiad (IBO) 2023, securing a gold medal for each participating student. Held in Al Ain, United Arab Emirates (UAE), from July 3 to July 11, the 34th IBO witnessed an outstanding performance by the Indian team.



The Indian participants, namely- Dhruv Advani from Bengaluru, Karnataka Ishan Pednekar from Kota, Rajasthan, Megh Chhabda from Jalna, Maharashtra, and Rohit Panda from Risali, Chattisgarh, showcased their exceptional skills in the competition. The team was accompanied by esteemed professionals, including Madan M Chaturvedi, Anupama Ronad, V V Binoy, and Rambhadur Subedi, who provided guidance and support.

Previously, India has achieved top positions in various other Olympiads, such as astronomy, astrophysics, physics, and junior science.



Anwesh Mazumdar, the national coordinator of Science Olympiads, expressed gratitude to the Indian students and the entire delegation for their outstanding performance. He acknowledged the efforts of teachers, mentors, the Biology Olympiad cell of HBCSE, and the support of the National Steering Committee, teacher organizations, and government funding agencies.



An informal interaction session has been scheduled for July 12, 2023, where the students and mentors will have an opportunity to share their experiences and celebrate their achievements.
